Message from MAU

“The Perception of Truth and Beauty”

As the human species, how do we confront and transform our being? How do we create the condition to make emerge the birth of beauty and truth? How do we stand up with courage to invite it, acknowledge it, celebrate it, love it or forgive it? How do we make emerge beauty that does not lie and truth that is kind?

In the MAU Forum 2009 you will meet provocative and inspirational artists, thinkers, writers, activists, heads of government and communities from across the Pacific region and around the world, as we continue to facilitate new dialogue and meaningful exchange, engaging with significant issues that affect our lives. The MAUForum celebrates these different opinions, aesthetic expressions and ways of being.

It is our hope that the MAUForum provides an open space, bridging localities, identities and boundaries with performances, ceremonies, symposia, workshops, debates and celebrations that enable a diversity of visions about the past, present and future.

The Mau Arts Forum, March 2009 involved a partnership brokered by ARTIVIST : creative JoFF Rae & included content & production (design & installation).  The Forum was used to develop collaborative work between Rhombus & Michel Tuffery – innovative band & fine artist to present the Pinata - a media performance!

Rhombus

Production : Consultant

NZ / AU tour November 2008

This extensive Nationwide tour of the provinces was unique in many ways… fully independent & self funded the tour was extremely succesful & used the highest standard of production involving resources of audio, lighting & visual content designed & provided by ARTIVIST : creative.

Rhombus tour & band Manager Koa Williams worked closely with ARTIVIST : creative JoFF Rae to push the boundries of a tour production & created the highest quality product to tour in 2008… massive visuals were employed at every opportunity & a 20KW audio system was utilised to it’s full extent…

The band stole the show at some major festivals like AREA9 & the Martinborough Wine & Food Festival with crowds of over 8,000 wanting more of the unique Pacific sounds!  MORE! MORE! MORE!

Hed Kandi down under

short tour with Mark Doyle & Mike Van Loon of Hed Kandi UK & Holland.

The run started in Auckland for a plush Hed Kandi style private party built in the shell of an incomplete multi floor open plan penthouse apartment of a 7 star luxery hotel followed by a very exclusive gig in a waterfront penthouse club…

Melbourne was a wonderful night of style & glamour at our fav’ hotel in Australia – the Prince in St Kilda;

Sydney was off the hook with a massive venue in the city center at a place called the Art House.  Back at the hotel Marty wanting to “go to the roof” was considered not such a good idea (she was subsequently banned from the balcony too) & strange rituals of heated plate & the warm 'E SET' found legend!

Wellington for another private party set in Te Papa after hours at the Icon Restaurant & then an all night session to celebrate engagement & 22nd birthday of the proprieter of a small private club called Q; exit 2pm the next day!

chillin’ in Kinloch, Lake Taupo before heading home to the UK...

100_0026100_0025100_0023

ARTIVIST : creative JoFF Rae designed & managed the award winning televised charity boxing matches & incorporated a circus element to the production with consideration of the difficulty involved in a boxing match & live performance event.

Dean Lonergan had a stupid but brilliant idea & approached JoFF to help.  The result was a well designed a suitable production involving highest quality concert systems, a giant LED wall & show specific graphics, a show band & the circus element with Webber Bros’ Circus… Dean added an independent production of a documentary & show graphics mixed with high quality catering for 1000 ($15,000 ringside tables) & the TV3 Live OB (4 hour live to air), crew & presenters made for a massive production of a unique & international standard!

The event won a Qantas Media Award for its broadcast, broke all records for viewer numbers in New Zealand (higher than the National News & for 4 hours!) & made over $1 Million dollars for the Yellow Ribbon Trust.
